Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will join ABB's Industrial Automation Digital Organization as a Senior Software Engineer – AI Platforms & Applications. You will contribute to the development of next-generation AI-enabled applications, cloud-native platforms, and intelligent automation solutions that power ABB's Industrial AI and Copilot ecosystem. Working closely with Architects, AI/ML Engineers, Product Management, Platform Engineering, and DevOps teams, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions that integrate AI capabilities, MLOps workflows, and modern cloud technologies to deliver innovative industrial digital products.
This role is contributing to the Digital Industry Analytics / Research & Development organization in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable AI-enabled applications, backend services, APIs, and cloud-native microservices using modern software engineering practices to deliver secure and high-performing enterprise solutions.
- Develop and integrate AI/ML capabilities, MLOps pipelines, AutoML workflows, and intelligent automation services while supporting model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management across cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with Architects, AI/ML Engineers, Product Management, DevOps, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver end-to-end software solutions, drive technical excellence, and ensure successful product releases.
- Contribute across the complete software development lifecycle by implementing responsive user interfaces, optimizing application performance, ensuring software quality, and driving continuous improvements through Agile and DevOps practices.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- 6–10 years of experience in software engineering with strong expertise in developing enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications using Python and modern software development practices.
- Strong experience in frontend development using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, along with backend development using REST APIs, microservices, and distributed application architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning integration, MLOps practices, Azure Machine Learning, AutoML workflows, and model lifecycle management.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native deployment models.
- Good understanding of observability, monitoring, logging, telemetry, cybersecurity best practices, and secure software development for enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with experience working in Agile, cross-functional, and globally distributed engineering teams.
