Do you enjoy owning the employee lifecycle and being a trusted contact for employees and managers on People Operations, payroll coordination, employee relations, and day-to-day HR topics?

As our People Operations Specialist Southern Europe, you will be part of an international People Operations setup where each specialist acts as the trusted expert for their country scope. You will be responsible for People Operations across Spain, France, and Italy, including the coordination of monthly payroll preparation with our local payroll providers.

You will also help shape how we work by using AI, automation, and modern HR technology to reduce manual work, improve quality, and speed up recurring tasks.

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you will make sure People Operations runs smoothly across Spain, France, and Italy. 

  • You will combine hands-on HR operations, employee and manager guidance, payroll coordination, HRIS ownership, documentation quality, and continuous improvement.
  • You will manage the employee lifecycle across Spain, France, and Italy, including preboarding, onboarding, contract changes, internal transfers, promotions, leave topics, and offboarding.
  • You will be a trusted operational contact for employees and managers, providing clear guidance on People Operations, payroll-related questions, benefits, employee relations, and day-to-day HR topics.
  • You will coordinate monthly payroll preparation for Spain, France, and Italy in close collaboration with the respective local payroll providers.
  • You will prepare, validate, and submit payroll-relevant employee information, review payroll results, and coordinate necessary corrections with providers and internal stakeholders.
  • You will prepare and manage HR documentation, including employment contracts, amendments, certificates, confirmations, and other lifecycle documents.
  • You will maintain accurate employee data and documentation in our HRIS and support reliable reporting for the Southern European scope.
  • You will support the administration of local employee benefits and ensure that relevant changes are communicated accurately to employees, internal stakeholders, and payroll providers.
  • You will help ensure that local employment requirements, internal policies, and compliance standards are reflected correctly in daily People Operations work.
  • You will stay informed about relevant regulatory and administrative changes and coordinate their operational implementation with internal experts and external partners.
  • You will work closely with colleagues in Culture & People, Accounting, Finance, and Legal to ensure accurate information flows and reliable operational processes.
  • You will use tools such as Personio, local payroll platforms including PayFit or comparable systems, AI-enabled solutions, and workflow automation to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and make recurring People Operations processes easier to scale.
  • You will contribute to process improvements, templates, playbooks, and scalable ways of working across our international People Operations setup.

THIS IS YOU

Must have

  • You have 3–6 years of experience in People Operations, People Administration, HR Operations, or a similar role.
  • You have practical experience supporting employees in at least one of the following countries: Spain, France, or Italy.
  • You have experience preparing payroll information and coordinating monthly payroll processes with external payroll providers.
  • You understand the distinction between internal payroll preparation and the payroll processing performed by external providers.
  • You are confident supporting employees and managers with clear, pragmatic, and service-oriented guidance.
  • You have hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll-related systems, ideally Personio, PayFit, or comparable platforms, and you care about clean data, accurate documentation, and reliable execution.
  • You work independently, take ownership of your country scope, and handle confidential or time-sensitive topics with care.
  • You have English skills at C1 level and professional proficiency in Spanish, French, or Italian at B2 level or above.
  • You are confident using AI-enabled tools and automation to improve productivity, documentation quality, and process consistency while handling employee data responsibly.

Nice to have
  • You have People Operations or payroll-coordination experience in more than one of the three countries.
  • You bring practical knowledge of local employment requirements in Spain, France, and/or Italy.
  • You have worked in an international or matrix organization before.
  • You have experience improving HR processes, creating templates, or documenting workflows.
  • You bring a degree in HR, Business, Psychology, Labour Law, or a comparable qualification.


This position is located in Barcelona, where parts of our Global Culture & People team are based. We are looking for someone with relevant People Operations and payroll-coordination experience in at least one of the Southern European markets and the ability to work confidently across Spain, France, and Italy.
