Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking First-Line Air Proprietary 2 Systems Engineering Managers (Level K) to join the team in Berkeley, MO.

Here is a phenomenal opportunity to lead and execute development excellence on an exciting, fast-paced, and critically important program in the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance (AD).  This program is located in Berkeley, MO. This Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) First Line Manager (Level K) will lead a highly motived team in a dynamic environment and help pioneer Boeing’s future.

This leader will lead innovation and implement industry-leading new approaches to engineering development, specialty engineering, integration, and verification, such as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). They will be responsible for leading integrated solutions across engineering teams and throughout the system lifecycle while ensuring design effectiveness and compliance.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead Systems Engineering and Specialty Engineering activities utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and approaches
  • Lead program integration and verification activities, coordinating amongst IPTs and stakeholders to ensure system integration and performance
  • Empowers employees performing cutting edge engineering and technical activities in the areas of Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, system verification, and product development.
  • Develops and executes new & novel project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects, provides technical management, and leads program and process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Coordinates and leads via influence across Air Dominance division with other division leaders.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, coaches, develops, and motivates employees. Acquires resources for team.
  • Drives collaboration strategies across multiple teams and implements strategy across a large program.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD degree (A technical degree is defined as any four-year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study).
  • 5+ years of experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Experience leading Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, or Integration and Test activities
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 3+ years of experience mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams.
  • 5+ years of full-time defense industry experience within Systems or Project Engineering.
  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) for a medium to large project ($500,000 or greater)
  • Experience leading Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Summary pay range: $141,100 – $190,900
