London
Full-time
In office 4 days/week
Why This Role
- You own the demand number across four priority verticals and two distinct go-to-market motions.
- You are hired ahead of your team. Several seats sit open beneath this role, and you get to shape and staff them rather than inherit someone else’s structure.
- Marketing is being built into a measurable engine, and demand generation is the centre of it.
Who we are
Modulr is the payments automation platform that streamlines money movement with accuracy, control and reliability, built to scale. We process more than 200m transactions and over £180bn in payment value on an annualised basis, and we are trusted by over 6,000 businesses from fast-growing SMEs to global enterprises.
We automate how money moves into and out of a business (payroll, supplier payments, spend management and payment collection) through a single platform, connected to the accounting and payroll systems finance teams already use, and underpinned by principal memberships of Visa and Mastercard and direct access to central bank infrastructure.
As a regulated payments provider with over a decade of experience, we are the platform finance teams trust to run mission-critical operations. Modulr is backed by PayPal, FIS, General Atlantic, Blenheim Chalcot, Frog Capital and Highland Europe, with over 400 employees across London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Mumbai.

The role
You will own demand generation across Modulr’s priority verticals: Travel, Lending, corporate business payments and SME/accountants. There is a capable team in place and real momentum in the business. Your opportunity is to bring it together into one system, with a shared plan, a clear definition of great and an operating rhythm that turns activity into predictable pipeline.
This is a build, and that is the best part of it. Two vertical owners sit in the team today and a senior events hire is in process. Beyond that, the shape of the function is yours to fill: an SME and accountant specialist, partner and channel marketing, a dedicated outbound capability, and events support behind your events lead. You are hired first precisely so that you can define those roles and hire into them.
The business is varied, with several products, multiple priority verticals and two routes to market that behave very differently. The enterprise and mid-market motion is sales-led and considered. The SME motion runs largely through accountants, who introduce their own clients, and it is high volume and partner-shaped. Running both well is the interesting part of this job.
What you’ll do
Own the number - You will carry the quarterly pipeline commitment across the verticals, know your conversion rates and cost per meeting, and be able to defend them in front of the exec team.
Run the verticals as pods - Each vertical pairs a demand generation owner with a product marketer working as one unit. You will lead that model, and most likely own a vertical yourself, because leaders here do the work as well as direct it.
Take paid acquisition to the next level - Build rigorous testing and experimentation across paid search and social so every pound works harder, and hold agency partners to clear goals.
Grow events into a pipeline channel - Modulr already has a strong presence at the events that matter. You will turn that into a deliberate, measured channel with capture targets set in advance and conversion tracked after.
Build the SME and accountant motion - The one materially different funnel we run: high volume, partner-adjacent, and closer to enabling accountants to bring us their clients than to a direct sale. It deserves its own playbook rather than a scaled-down enterprise one.
Stand up an outbound capability - Build the outbound engine alongside the sales development team, and hold a single shared pipeline goal with sales rather than an argument about sources.
Build and lead the team - Define the seats, hire them, and develop the people already here so they do the best work of their careers.
Make AI part of how the team works - Workflows and agents that compress campaign cycles and let a focused team do the work of a much larger one. We will ask you to show us this during the process.
Who you are
- You have owned a pipeline number across multiple verticals or segments rather than a single channel, and you can describe exactly what you did to move it.
- You run paid, lifecycle, events and outbound as one system. You may have come up through one of them, but you are not a specialist defending a favourite channel.
- You are fluent in the funnel: lead to meeting to opportunity, the conversion rates between each, and where things fall through.
- You manage agencies hard, with clear goals and a willingness to hold them to account.
- You are a builder rather than a maintainer. Experience building a function is worth more to us here than experience running a mature one.
- You are hands-on. You will lead a team and you will also be in the platforms, in the numbers and in the copy.
- Real fluency with AI, not just everyday use. You have built and shipped your own agents, automations and workflows, and you can prototype something yourself. There is an AI component to the exercise you will do with us.
- B2B is a requirement. Payments, fintech or another regulated and technically complex product is preferred, as is experience through the £50–150M ARR band.
