Job Description:

The Governance and Control (G&C) Specialist will report to the Senior Manager, CPB BMG (1B) and will play a key role supporting the overall 1B mandate, leading and managing the development and execution of the Models Risk Governance Program activities and reporting. This role will focus on supporting all Model & AI Risk oversight activities for CPB businesses.

As a successful candidate, you are a Subject Matter Expert with a  deep understanding of Models requirements within TD.  You have proven experience performing risk assessments, policy analysis, consultation & implementation& Reporting.

Foster a strong, robust, reliable, and sustainable Governance & Control environment for models, while

  • Supporting and enabling business growth within TD's risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Foster an effective and transparent culture of model risk awareness as well as evaluate business strategy and activities against risk appetite.
  • Support the Business in the identification, assessment, mitigation and overall management of current and emerging model risks in business processes, operations, and initiatives to comply with regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Business to maintain processes to identify, track and resolve model related issues expediently and effectively. Identify and report trends/areas of increasing model risk and support decision-making/mitigation.
  • Support model related exams, reviews, and findings with second and third lines of defense risk and control partners as well as external parties. Identify trends/areas of increasing model risk and support decision-making/mitigation.
  • Establish and maintain Models Governance Framework and oversee lifecycle activities – conceptualization, development, validation, implementation, ongoing maintenance, performance monitoring, and retirement.
  • Provide model governance subject matter expertise to business to support their risk management practices.
  • Streamline model processes, driving efficiency and consistency in processes and approaches where possible. Be continuous improvement minded, seeking and pursuing new ways of working, where appropriate.
  • Provide trusted and reliable model reporting to senior leadership and risk and control partners on the state of risks, controls, and outcomes.
  • Manage relationships within various business lines and/or Control Partners while acting as a brand ambassador for our business area.

Skills Required:

As a successful candidate, you are a highly seasoned professional with substantial business knowledge and model governance knowledge.  Additionally, you have organizational awareness and sound knowledge of broader areas serving the Bank's risk and control interests.

  • Strong Analytical skills/research skills & business acumen with the ability to breakdown complex subjects into manageable parts in a systematic manner & assess risk/challenge the status quo
  • Knowledge of governance, risk and control procedures, strategies, and tact
  • Knowledge of risk management standards, regulation, and risk mitigation
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment and leveraging available standards and policies to support business interpretation of models and risks.
  • Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program activities to ensure completion
  • Self-driven, self-motivated and operates effectively in an independent version
  • Strong data and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and finding meaningful solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making risk-based decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and with control partners.
  • Ability to effectively challenge the status-quo and engage in challenging conversations as needed.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to impact and influence outcomes.
  • Comfort operating independently in an ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

Asset:

  • Experience working with Model Risk Governance or AI Governance  
  • Experience in governance and control, risk, compliance or other similar function.

Knowledge of, or experience working in, CPB product areas, operations and channels.
