International Trade Compliance Manager
The International Trade Compliance Manager oversees the global trade compliance program activities for Appleton business unit, with a focus on the Americas. The ITC Manager is responsible with leading, implementing, improving, and reviewing various trade compliance requirements and initiatives, as planned and directed by the Director; including the management and supervision of business unit trade compliance professionals.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Develops and executes the strategic initiatives of Appleton trade compliance, as planned and directed by the Director, by leading and implementing daily/regular trade compliance programs, including:
- Training Program Support: ensure functional areas and gatekeepers and up-to-date with training requirements
- Customs Support: performing trade data oversight in ACE, PMS, assisting with customs broker inquiries, maintenance of brokerage SOP’s
- Overall ITC Program support: developing and implementing Emerson standards for Appleton, facilitating import and export activities, site visits and audits, compliance guidance and support to businesses with compliance issues and escalations
- Ensure business locations maintain Emerson’s Archer trade compliance tool
- Ensure business locations maintain necessary policies, procedures and internal controls in accordance with Emerson standards
- Oversee special export compliance programs such as Embargoes and Sanctions, Restricted Party Screening
- Oversee special import compliance programs such as USMCA, HTS Classifications, Valuation, Section 301/232 and other special tariffs
- Assist Emerson and business locations with supply chain security compliance programs such as CTPAT, AEO-Mexico and PIP
- Oversee customer requests for product eligibility with BABA, Made in America, ARRA, TAA, etc
- Participate in other Emerson functional teams – ie. brokerage mode team, tariff task force, etc
- Consults and provides expert level advice to business locations and functional departments on trade compliance, using collected data to review procedures and generated reports to address deficiencies in applicable programs;
- Delivers strategic trade data and financial analytics to executive leadership to optimize global duty structures, mitigate risk, and guide international supply chain decisions
- Ensure that all applicable compliance systems, modules and data repositories are monitored, performing and updated;
- Leverage resources and best practices across all global locations
- Responds to escalations and questions from locations and departments;
- Collaborate with other functional areas to investigate and resolve Trade Compliance issues, and develop and lead compliance projects and opportunities;
- Manage our Manila trade compliance analysts, including coaching and development;
- Proactively and independently resolves complex challenges where precedent may not exist.

For This Role You, Will Need
- 8+ years of direct work experience in multi-national International Trade Compliance
- 5+ years direct experience supervising and leading teams, projects, and programs
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Legal, Business, Finance or related field relevant to trade compliance, other advanced degrees are an advantage
- Candidate must be able to navigate and interpret U.S., Canada and Mexico and other regionals import and export laws and regulations, and/or be willing to learn
- Experience working in the region and with local customs authorities
- Excellent oral and written English language skills, other languages are an advantage
- Ability to travel 25% or more for success in the role
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

- Advanced MS Office skills, especially in the analysis of data
- Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, reliable and good attention to detail
- Comfortable working with senior management across multiple departments and global locations, including Emerson enterprise compliance teams

The salary range for this role is $90,000 -$120,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to the role.
