ERM Certification and Verification Services (CVS) is seeking a Lead Assessor - UK ETS to help some of the UK's most significant industrial organizations navigate complex emissions reporting requirements with confidence. What Your Impact Is:

  • Lead UK ETS verification engagements for major organizations across Oil & Gas, manufacturing, mining, metals, and other energy-intensive sectors.

  • Provide independent assurance that emissions data is accurate, transparent, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

  • Influence client understanding of carbon management, emissions reporting, and verification best practices.

  • Strengthen ERM CVS's reputation as a trusted partner in certification and verification services.

  • Support the growth of UK ETS services by building strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

  • Contribute to the advancement of robust environmental governance and climate accountability across industry.
     

What You'll Bring:

Required

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Proven experience auditing, assessing, or verifying management systems within high-emission industries.

  • Strong sector expertise within Oil & Gas, heavy industry, manufacturing, mining, metals, or other energy-intensive operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK ETS regulations, carbon accounting principles, emissions monitoring, and reporting methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of ISO management standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and ISO 9001, with practical auditing application.

  • Understanding of verification frameworks including ISO 17029 and ISO 14064.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex audits, assessments, and verification activities.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK, offshore locations, and internationally, up to 75%.
     

Preferred

  • Lead Auditor or equivalent auditing qualifications.

  • Previous experience delivering UK ETS verification services.

  • Experience working within certification, assurance, compliance, or regulatory environments.

  • Business development experience, including identifying opportunities and supporting service growth.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate technical findings to diverse audiences.
     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct UK ETS verification assessments, validating emissions data and regulatory compliance across energy-intensive industries.

  • Lead audit and verification engagements from planning through reporting and closure.

  • Evaluate emissions reporting systems, processes, and controls to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing findings, observations, and non-conformities.

  • Provide clients with expert guidance on UK ETS requirements, compliance expectations, and industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align verification activities with certification and regulatory frameworks.

  • Build trusted relationships with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

  • Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand ERM CVS's verification and assurance services.

  • Maintain technical expertise in emerging regulatory developments and evolving carbon market requirements.
