Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.
Job Profile Summary:
The Risk Horizontal Technology team develops strategic risk platforms supporting the Global Markets business across FICC and Equities. Our solutions power risk analytics, P&L generation, scenario analysis, and regulatory reporting used by trading desks, market risk teams, quantitative analysts, and senior management globally. The team operates on Quartz, the firm's strategic trading and risk platform, building highly scalable distributed systems in Python and C++ to support large-scale computational workloads.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing global engineering team responsible for building the next generation of risk technology. You will work on complex challenges involving distributed computing, platform scalability, performance optimization, and operational resilience, while partnering directly with business and technology stakeholders to deliver strategic solutions.
Responsibilities:
Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
Automates manual release activities
Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
Design, develop, and support scalable risk and P&L calculation frameworks.
Develop solutions that improve platform performance, efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews.
Lead delivery of complex initiatives across the full software development lifecycle.
Partner closely with traders, risk managers, quantitative teams, and engineering colleagues to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
Drive engineering excellence through automation, observability, and operational best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills
5+ years of software engineering experience with Python (or similar modern programming languages).
Experience building distributed, parallel, grid, cloud, or high-performance computing solutions.
Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, and performance optimization.
Experience supporting business-critical production platforms.
Knowledge of software development, testing, deployment, and support within Agile delivery environments.
Domain Knowledge (Preferred)
Market Risk, P&L, Pricing, or Regulatory Risk platforms.
FICC and/or Equities products.
Large-scale analytical, computational, or data processing platforms.
