Summary:
Manages a team responsible for delivering IT validation services supporting laboratory systems, instruments, and applications. Provides technical leadership, people management, and program oversight to ensure successful execution of multiple concurrent projects while meeting business priorities.
Leads a team of Validation Analysts and Application Administrators, managing validation initiatives as a coordinated program while overseeing each validation as an individual project from planning through completion. Partners closely with business, quality, laboratory operations, infrastructure teams, and vendors to deliver high-quality technology solutions.
Day in the life:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of technical professionals through work assignment, performance management, and career development.
- Manage a portfolio of validation projects, ensuring delivery against scope, timelines, priorities, and business objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT, Quality, laboratory operations, and business stakeholders.
- Utilize Jira to manage project planning, resource allocation, backlogs, deliverables, dashboards, and reporting.
- Monitor project risks, dependencies, milestones, and team workload to ensure successful delivery.
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and operational excellence across validation activities.
- Provide regular program updates, metrics, and status reporting to leadership.
- Coordinate internal teams, external vendors, and cross-functional partners to deliver technology solutions that support business needs.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, laboratory systems, or a related technical environment.
- 2+ years of people management experience leading technical teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
- Experience using Jira for planning, tracking, reporting, and resource management required.
- Strong knowledge of project and program management methodologies, including Agile and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, stakeholders, vendors, and competing priorities.
- Experience supporting regulated or quality-driven environments is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience supporting laboratory instruments, scientific applications, or enterprise IT systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Scrum Master, Agile, or similar certification.
- Experience with validation lifecycle management, audit support, or quality systems.
- Experience leading organizational or process improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting regulated or quality-driven environments.
In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Working conditions and environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Frequently drives to site locations and may travel both domestic and international
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
- Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Moderate mobility required.
- Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
- Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
- Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
- Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally & externally.
- Ability to apply basic principles to solve conceptual issues.
- Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Virginia is $103,100.00–$154,710.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
