Theoretical Physicist - Ion Trap
Quantum-Art is a full-stack quantum computing company developing state-of-the-art quantum computing systems based on trapped-ion technology, encompassing both hardware and software. As part of our mission, the Theory and Algorithms Group models the performance of our Quantum Processing Units (QPUs), develops novel quantum modalities, and designs new algorithms capable of solving computationally hard problems beyond the reach of current classical methods. We are seeking an excellent and highly skilled theoretical physicist to join this group.
· Develop and apply numerical simulations and analytical models to study the dynamics and motion of large ion-crystals, including 2d arrays.
· Develop tools for efficient evaluation, characterization, and validation of Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) performance.
· Develop novel electric ion-trapping concepts for large-scale QPUs.
· Collaborate extensively with the QPU group, jointly leading efforts toward high-performance and scalable quantum computers.
Requirements
· Ph.D. in Physics (exceptional candidates with M.Sc. will be considered).
· Strong background in quantum science and technology.
· Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
· Background in AMO physics — an advantage.
· Background in electrical engineering — an advantage.
· Strong teamwork skills, with very good communication, presentation, and reporting abilities.
· Software development experience, including proficiency in Python or Julia, and familiarity with symbolic tools such as Mathematica.
· Electric environment modeling experience, including software such as COMSOL.or creating requisitions 'from scratch'
