The systems that make that possible need to be fast, reliable, and built to scale as we grow into new markets. What you'll actually doDesign and develop scalable backend services using Python and Django, focusing on our core financial productsBuild and maintain RESTful APIs that power our customer-facing applications and internal toolsImplement robust data models and database schemas to support our financial services infrastructureWrite clean, testable code with comprehensive unit and integration testsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and improvementsOptimize application performance and ensure high availability of our servicesParticipate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentationMonitor and maintain production systems, ensuring reliability and securityWho thrives hereYou should be comfortable making and defending technical decisions, while remaining open to feedback and alternative approaches. You'll need to balance technical excellence with business needs and help guide the team toward pragmatic solutions.You excel at stakeholder management and can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You're proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues before they become problems.We look for candidates with most or all of the below traits that can point to real experience applying them.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience5+ years of professional experience in backend development with PythonStrong proficiency in Django, or other Python API frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Flask)Experience with SQL databases (preferably PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworksKnowledge of API design principles and microservices architectureExperience with AWS or similar cloud platformsSolid understanding of version control with GitExperience with testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest)Understanding of security best practices and data protectionStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent communication abilities and proven track record of successful team collaborationGiven what we do, experience in financial services, fintech and business-to-business organisations is particularly interesting to us.We hire for rangeWhat you're like as a person and how you treat people is a big deal for us.
