Sits within a newly acquired startup building an AI-enabled, autonomous banking platform for Tier-1 financial institutions within the banking group. The Systems Engineer builds mission-critical services that record and move value with strong correctness guarantees — owning transaction processing, performance, and reliability layers that banks depend on for hundreds of millions of transactions daily. Deep Go and/or Rust expertise required, with full end-to-end ownership from code to production....
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Engineering
– Core Financial Systems: Build mission-critical services that record and move value with strong correctness guarantees.
– Transaction Processing: Implement safe, reliable transaction flows that behave predictably under retries and partial failures.
– Performance: Profile and optimise hot paths to keep p95/p99 latency predictable and throughput scalable.
– Reliability & Observability: Improve metrics, tracing, logging, alerting, and incident readiness for production systems.
– AI-Native Dev Experience: Use and improve AI-assisted workflows for debugging, operations, and developer productivity
Build & Operations
– Build and operate production systems end to end: design ® ship ® run.
– Enforce invariants and safety via testing, reviews, and disciplined change management.
– Debug distributed and system-level issues: concurrency, performance, data consistency.
– Drive operational excellence: SLOs, on-call, postmortems, automation.
– Collaborate cross-functionally to turn requirements into simple, safe primitives and APIs.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES
Technical Expertise
– Strong systems engineering experience in Go and/or Rust.
– Distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, fault tolerance, failure modes.
– Performance and concurrency expertise: profiling, tail latency, debugging
Cloud & Reliability
– Operational maturity: observability, incident response, and production ownership
Operating Style
– Security-minded and quality-focused with strong auditability and traceability instincts.
– Ownership mindset with the ability to make architectural decisions under uncertainty.
– AI-native engineer: integrates LLMs and agentic workflows into daily engineering practice.
IMPACT & SCOPE
– Direct impact on core banking platforms used by Tier-1 global institutions
– High autonomy and accountability within a small, senior team
– Work shipped directly to production environments at enterprise scale
