Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Technician 1st Shift at our Grand Rapids, MI site. Producing electro-mechanical actuation components since 1963, our Grand Rapids facility has just under 200 employees. It's a leading supplier of secondary flight control systems and components for commercial and business aircraft OEMs. This is a 1st shift role, with core hours between 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday.

The hourly rate for this position is $29 per hour.

What you’ll do:

The Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electro-mechanical components as specified in applicable documents with minimal supervision for the OE and/or Repairs Value Stream.

This position is classified as a safety‑sensitive role under applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a DOT‑required pre‑employment drug test.

Individuals hired into this role remain subject to ongoing drug and/or alcohol testing, including random testing, in accordance with federal regulations. Eaton maintains a drug‑ and alcohol‑free workplace and expects all applicants to understand and comply with these requirements.

In this function you will: • Assemble and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies to scheduled delivery date. Prioritize work to ensure business goals are met. Ensure activities are performed correctly and proper tooling and documentation is used. Requires little to no supervision. • Use test equipment to perform in process testing and final Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs). • Perform lock wire/safety wire and nameplate. • Utilize hand tools such as, but not limited to, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, flow meters, multimeters, and other basic hand tools as required. • Perform visual inspection, identify any defective items and handle according to established procedures. • Assist in process improvements. • Support engineering on new production manufacturability. • Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling is in calibration before use. • Maintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations. • Other duties as assigned. May be reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution • Associates Degree in Technical Field or equivalent of six (6) years in assembly and testing of electromechanical actuators or similar equipment. • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.

• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications: • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred

Position Criteria:

• Participate in functional cross training within all major requirements of the assigned department and demonstrate willingness to support any area of the business. • Ability to read, understand and follow product specifications, drawings, and work orders in English • Working knowledge of shop test equipment and testing procedures. • Know-how and ability to work with inspection gages, multi-meters, volt meters, force scales, torque wrenches, and electrical test equipment. • Knowledge of fundamental electrical components and mechanical physics. Ability to identify wire by color code. • Solder certification will be provided. Prior experience preferred in IPC certification J-STD001, 7711, A610. Ability to cross train on a variety of hardware/sub-assemblies and test procedures. • Position includes standing, bending, twisting and the capability to lift / move up to 40lbs.
