Lead Engineer Product Definition
Job Description Summary
Essential Functions:This GE Vernova Aero product definition engineering (PDE) role will work closely with design engineering and manufacturing to quickly solve challenging issues and support long-term corrective action. Aero PDE is leading all the CAD models creation, Bills of Material and PMI dimensioning with NX CAD systems for aeroderivative gas turbine accessory hardware systems such as gas fuel, hydraulics, cooling water, lube oil, control panels, purge air and ventilation.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
• Create parametric 3D models and drawings and adhere to GE Product Definition standards of work using NX CAD software.
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D model based definition to GE Product Definition standard work requirements, which includes the application of dimensioning techniques while considering manufacturability and design intent.
• Deliver models and drawings according to Aero Design Practices, Quality procedures and customer requirements.
• Provide design solutions for issues found during the Manufacturing process.
• Drive applicable checking and productivity tools. Provide feedback to peers to improve process
• Demonstrate PLM system (Enovia) knowledge to manage and issue product definition data.
• Define dimensioning and tolerancing requirements for proper clearances and fit-ups while optimizing manufacturing cost.
• Ensure design integrity and no high-risk escaping defects and drive improvements in FTY (error reduction).
• Ensure that interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by owners of mating parts.
• Effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.
• Understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are met.
• Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE Vernova customers.
• Provide design support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Vernova Engineering Standards and Operating Procedures.
• Utilize Lean tools to eliminate waste and improve processes and cycle time.
• Continually learn and apply the latest techniques related to CAD software, Data Management Systems (DMS) and MBE (Model Based Enterprise).
• Contribution to Engineering initiatives to improve productivity and quality.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Technical associate’s degree.
• Expertise in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Desired Characteristics:
• Previous working experience with Gas Turbine technology
• Knowledge of Bill of Materials, GD&T Definition, Descriptive Geometry, Model Based Design and Tolerance Stack-up
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience.
• Focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
• CAD expertise with NX(Unigraphics)
• PLM expertise with ENOVIA
• Fluent English
