Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to help alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disability, and promote overall health and wellness. The PTA works collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient rehabilitation and sports medicine setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic interventions for patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, developmental, and functional impairments.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment goals, home exercise programs, and overall rehabilitation progress.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress, recommendations, and concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including treatment notes, progress reports, charges, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist with scheduling adjustments to accommodate patient care needs and changing caseloads.
- Participate in departmental initiatives, quality improvement activities, staff meetings, mentorship opportunities, and continuing education programs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Full Time – 80 Hours Biweekly
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current South Carolina Physical Therapist Assistant License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
