Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Shared Services Department is seeking a strong accounting professional to join the Intercompany Accounting Team. This role reports to the Manager, Intercompany Accounting and is responsible for owning key month-end close deliverables, supporting intercompany reconciliation and settlement activities, performing financial analysis, and maintaining intercompany general ledger accounts in a complex multi-entity environment.
This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is naturally curious, proactive, and comfortable working through ambiguity. The ideal candidate can work independently, manage competing priorities, ask thoughtful questions, partner effectively across teams, and follow through until issues are fully resolved.
Prior intercompany accounting experience is helpful but not required. The role can be learned by someone who brings strong accounting experience, clear communication, ownership, problem-solving skills, and the drive to understand how transactions flow across teams, systems, and legal entities.
What you’ll be doing
• Analyze, prepare, and record monthly journal entries related to intercompany accounting to ensure general ledger accuracy and timely financial close.
• Own intercompany general ledger accounts, including account analysis, balance review, aging analysis, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain complete supporting documentation in compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.
• Lead the research, resolution, and clearance of intercompany differences across entities by partnering with manufacturing plants, divisions, shared services teams, and counterpart organizations.
• Investigate and resolve aged balances, disputed items, unreconciled transactions, and out-of-balance conditions in a timely manner.
• Support intercompany settlement, in-house bank activities, netting, and elimination processes during month-end and quarter-end close.
• Review intercompany transactions for proper legal entity alignment, account mapping, and adherence to internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Partner with internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual audits and SOX testing by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to inquiries.
What you bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work-related experience
• 5+ years of accounting experience in corporate accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, shared services, manufacturing, audit, or another complex accounting environment
• 5+ years of month-end close experience, including journal entry preparation and review, account analysis, reconciliations, and issue resolution
• Previous experience with SOX controls as a preparer and supporting external audits
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage open items, follow up with stakeholders, and drive issues to resolution
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders and influence process improvements
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve complex accounting issues
• Curiosity and willingness to learn complex processes, systems, and business flows beyond the immediate accounting entry
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, work through ambiguity, and recommend practical solutions
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, and data analysis
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and collaborative environment
Added bonus if you have
• Prior intercompany accounting, settlement, elimination, in-house bank, or multi-entity reconciliation experience
• Experience with SAP or another large ERP system
• CPA license, active or in progress
• Experience in a manufacturing, shared services, or large multi-entity environment
