We are seeking a Sr. Advanced Experimental Physicist (AMO) for our Albuquerque, NM location having experience with trapped ion systems to contribute to our cutting-edge R&D efforts aimed at creating a utility-scale trapped-ion quantum computer. You will work individually and in collaboration with a team of scientists and engineers across multiple Quantinuum locations. You should be comfortable achieving results both independently and in close collaboration with a team.

Key responsibilities:
- Build, operate, and maintain trapped ion systems and related support infrastructure that employee both free-space optics and integrated photonics for light delivery
- Design experiments, collect and analyze data, and present results to a variety of stakeholders
- Help build an ion-trapping lab from the ground up
- Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and fabrication experts to validate integrated photonic and trapped-ion technologies
- Review scientific literature, identify and implement improvements in experimental workflow
- Travel expectations of roughly 10% , dependent on business needs.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Ph.D. completed prior to starting
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with trapped-ion systems (PhD inclusive)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience programming control systems for data collection and analysis (PhD inclusive)
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Ph.D. in physics or related field preferred
- Experience with quantum computing hardware
- Experience with cryogenic and ultra-high vacuum systems
- Experience with integrated photonic devices
- Strong scientific communication and technical writing skills
- Strong organizational and collaboration skills
- Have a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals related to trapped-ion systems for quantum information science
