Location Overview
Our offices are located in the prestigious Symphony Offices in the heart of Amsterdam’s financial district. Offering nearly 360-degree views of the city, the workspace is filled with natural light, thanks to spacious floor-to-ceiling windows. The modern layout provides a comfortable and inspiring environment for work, with a well-designed breakout area for informal meetings and relaxation.
The building also features a restaurant on the ground floor, making it convenient for meals and client lunches. With excellent transportation links, the office is easily accessible—just under a 20-minute journey from Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal.
Role Context
Cboe Clear Europe (CCEU) is a systemically important financial institution, providing post-trade services to stock exchanges, multilateral trading facilities, other equities trading platforms and for OTC equities trades. Headquartered in Amsterdam, we service trading platforms and we have clearing participants with headquarters in 14 jurisdictions in Europe, North America and Asia.
Throughout the day our systems perform critical processes that consume large amounts of data. For example, our data flows feed price data from financial markets fed into our risk engine to generate margin calls, settlement instructions and a variety of reports. The Data Engineering team is responsible for all such data pipelines and report generation.
During the day our systems continuously use stock prices to compute the risks associated with ever-changing customer portfolios. To ensure a robust handling of all this data in near-realtime we have recently laid the foundation for a standard data pipelines stack based on Airflow, Python and PySpark. In the near future we will expand usage of these pipelines and explore other strategic technologies like Snowflake for reporting purposes. For this we are looking for a data engineer that can find his/her way around the Python ecosystem and PySpark.
Key responsibilities
- With your colleagues data engineers, perform changes to realize important business or regulatory requirements on topics like historical price data, regulatory and customer reporting, etc.
- Help us ensure data quality in our data flows, implementing appropriate monitoring and alerting on data quality issues
- Help us define, and gradually move towards our target architecture
- Support business analysts, database experts and our ops-colleagues whenever they need your expertise
Your knowledge and experience
- You are a seasoned data engineer and used to building, validating, running and troubleshooting data pipelines for business-critical systems
- You are open-minded and bring both creativity and a can-do attitude to the team
- You have a good view on and experience with AI-assisted software engineering
- You are experienced in creating lasting change in an organization on a topic like Data Governance and/or Data Quality Management
- You have prior experience in a regulated environment such as the financial industry
You have strong communication skills in English; although mostly located in Amsterdam, our workforce come from very diverse backgrounds so English is our main.
