This is not a remote position.  The position is based at our Virginia Beach, VA location.

Good Faith Pay Range: In accordance with Virginia law, the good-faith hourly pay range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, skills, and other legitimate business factors.

Position Summary

The HRIS Specialist (Exempt) is responsible for managing and maintaining the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and efficient functionality across all HR-related systems. This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic initiatives, optimizing workflows, and delivering analytical insights through effective system configuration and reporting. The position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and may require independent judgment and autonomy in the execution of duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as system administrator for the HRIS platform (e.g., UKG, Workday, ADP).
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze HR reports, dashboards, and metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide advanced end-user support for HR staff and business leaders.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, IT, and other departments to support system integration and automation.
  • Lead or assist in system upgrades, implementations, testing, and process improvements.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure system compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Train HR team members and stakeholders on system processes and reporting functions.
  • Manage role-based security, permissions, and audit logs for data access and system use.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for HRIS processes and user support.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with HRIS systems, ideally in a multi-location or complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with system administration, data analysis, and process optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience handling sensitive data and maintaining confidentiality.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with UKG, Workday, ADP, or SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Familiarity with data integration tools, APIs, or SmartConnect.
  • Experience developing and automating workflows or digital forms.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or BI tools for report building and analysis.
