Position Summary
Perform single-phase self-contained and transformer-rated metering work including, maintenance, testing, and special meter investigations. Perform polyphase self-contained metering work including, testing, and special meter investigations. Perform troubleshooting, wiring verification. Obtain data from metering equipment such as load profile data. Perform metering material handling duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate or higher degree from an accredited tech school or college in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, computer engineering technology or communications technology.
OR
Have 3-5 years prior field work experience relevant to job description or comparable work experience.
Valid Driver’s License. Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer and team interaction. Knowledge of basic electrical principles and demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills. Familiarity with basic computer operations and able to run common application programs such as Microsoft Office products
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience electrical schematics and electrical troubleshooting and installations Familiarity with watt-hour metering and associated equipment including installing, testing, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of electric distribution systems, e.g., different service types and voltages. Prior experience troubleshooting, verifying wiring. Knowledge and experience working with the Mobile Work Management System (MWMS) application as well as other Duke applications such as Map-link, SAP, etc. Prior experience with telecommunications devices (ie. Wireless, Cellular, Power Line Carrier) Demonstrated problem solving and general troubleshooting skills Knowledge of service area within reporting location.
Working Conditions:
Safety is imperative. Work environment is normally inside. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds is required to handle testing equipment and materials. Performance is monitored and evaluated regularly. Work location is the meter lab and schedule available is first shift
