About the role
The Compliance Officer will be part of the founding team for the expansion to the US and will be key for supporting the business areas on understanding the regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance. International expansion is a key component to the long term success of Nubank's business and having a Compliance person from the very beginning will help teams to reduce failures while ensuring regulatory compliance
You'll be responsible for
Adapting the global Compliance program to the US market and building a CMS from the scratch
Establishing a compliance program for both federal and state regulations and support teams on drafting policies and procedures.
Supporting teams on implementing the regulatory requirements, including the gap assessment of Banking regulations, acting as a sort of PMO to ensure a successful implementation of requirements
Developing relationship with supervisors within our Regulators and ensuring regulatory requests are fulfilled
Assessing regulatory risks on new products and features for new launches, such as Credit Card and Deposits accounts
Hiring, developing and managing a team of Compliance analysts and specialists as the business grows
Ensuring issues and progress of the Compliance program is escalated to the governance forums.
We are looking for a person who has
Plenty of experience with financially regulated entities in the US. Having dealt with Regulators is a plus, especially OCC/FDIC/CFPB
Knowledgeable on Credit Card, Deposits/Prepaid Accounts and Lending regulation in the US
Understanding the non negotiable regulatory requirements that we cannot miss for having a successful business in the US
Aware of the Compliance failures from the peers and the enforcement actions applied in the market
Good communication skills are key for the success of this role. Being able to summarize not only the requirements to the business but also the issues identified in the process. Project management skills are highly valuable.
Acting as a true partner of the business, placing yourself in the shoes of the teams and coming up with creative solutions to fulfill the requirements
