Director, Fixed Asset Valuation

Job Summary:

The Fixed Asset Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics Director is responsible for developing, managing, reviewing, and delivering challenging valuation engagements by participating in all aspects of projects from business development through project completion. In this role, the Director is actively engaged in the origination and management of multiple valuation assignments, as well as managing staff in the development of such assignments. In addition, this position will be charged with reviewing the internal appraisal review process.

Job Duties:

  • Leads by example, acting as a model for the firm’s core values
  • Reviews work for technical approaches 
  • Manages risks within the practice
  • Spends significant time developing network of key financial decision makers, referral sources, and recruits
  • Market-facing and leads business development opportunities
  • Generates meaningful revenue for the practice through expanding existing relationships and building new relationships
  • Applies acceptable appraisal methodology and concepts
  • Ensures quality controls are adhered in association with all work products
  • Leads internal and external client meetings
  • Helps clients identify and navigate complex issues
  • Assists and provides guidance to peers and staff members in the development of project plans and timelines for deliverables
  • Actively estimates appropriate scope of work and accompanying budgets and fee estimates
  • Works to develop others – takes the time to teach others information/skills that are critical to their current or future work
  • Travels intermittently within the US and internationally, as needed
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day workload of Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work product within a single or multi-disciplined valuation assignments 
  • Ensures Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates are trained on all relevant valuation databases and models
  • Assists in evaluating the performance of Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates
  • Acts as Career Advisor to Valuation personnel as appropriate

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Finance or Engineering, preferred 

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of personal property valuation experience in a Big 4 or national valuation firm environment, required  
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in one (1) or more of the below, preferred:
  • Personal property valuation for financial reporting and accounting purposes
  • Personal property valuation for financing and leasing purposes 
  • Providing valuation opinions and support for litigation purposes
  • Appraisal review process
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and Power Generation, preferred 

License/Certifications:

  • ASA, RICS or other valuation industry credentials, preferred 

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, required 

Language:

  • N/A

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills 
  • Solid organizational skills, especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of valuation professionals and delegate work assignments among multiple valuation disciplines as needed
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel 
  • Ability to encourage a team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact with clients on assigned engagements
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
  • Ability for intermittent travel within the US and internationally 
     

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range:  $228,000 - $287,000                                                                                                                                                             Maryland Range:  $228,000 - $287,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $228,000 - $287,000
