Senior Manager, Network & Cloud Architecture
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About This Role:
We're looking for a Senior Manager of Network & Cloud Architecture to lead the organization responsible for the physical and logical network fabric that powers our AI-first cloud, from edge points of presence, through the long-haul backbone, into our GPU data centers, and up through the SDN/cloud control plane our customers interact with. This is a senior people-leadership role with deep technical ownership, managing a multi-team organization of architects, managers, and senior/staff engineers across four domains, Edge, Backbone, Data Center, and SDN/Cloud, while ensuring their designs work together as one coherent, low-latency, high-throughput fabric optimized for massive GPU clusters at hyperscale.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned network architecture leader who has scaled infrastructure organizations at a hyperscaler, AI cloud provider, or large-scale colocation operator, and who is equally comfortable setting multi-year technical strategy, arbitrating cross-domain tradeoffs, and developing the next generation of technical leaders beneath them. You'll report to the Director of Networking or VP of Infrastructure, sit on the extended infrastructure leadership team, and act as the primary technical and organizational bridge between hardware, infrastructure, and product leadership. This is a full-time position.
What You’ll Be Working On:
Own the company-wide architecture strategy connecting all four domains, ensuring edge PoPs, backbone transport, data center fabrics, and SDN overlays are designed as one coherent system rather than in silos.
Arbitrate high-stakes tradeoffs between domains, e.g., backbone capacity vs. data center fabric bandwidth vs. SDN overlay overhead, and drive decisions with company-wide impact, optimized for AI/HPC workloads.
Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, and design review processes across the network organization; own final sign-off on major architecture decisions and ensure delivery to production.
Set north star for PoP design, peering, IX participation, and edge compute/caching placement as the company expands into new markets.
Set game plan for long-haul/core network design, BGP, MPLS/segment routing, optical transport, and multi-region/multi-campus redundancy and failover posture.
Set overarching strategy for spine-leaf fabric design, RDMA (RoCEv2/InfiniBand) interconnects, and power/cooling-aware rack design for high-density GPU clusters at hyperscale (500+ switch environments).
Set strategic direction for SDN control plane architecture (overlay/underlay programmability), Kubernetes networking (CNI selection, network policy, multi-cluster service mesh), and customer-facing cloud constructs (VPCs, load balancers, security groups).
Champion intent-based networking, declarative configuration (GitOps), and network source-of-truth practices across the organization; own executive-level remediation for major cross-domain outages.
Partner with Product, Hardware, and Infrastructure (including VP/C-level stakeholders) to align multi-year roadmaps with company priorities and represent network architecture in company-wide planning.
Align software and operations teams on execution while incorporating their input to strengthen design and architecture.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
12+ years in network engineering/architecture, including 5+ years managing exceptionally skilled ICs.
Proven track record leading network architecture at hyperscale, 1000+ switches across multi-campus or multi-region environments.
Deep fluency across multiple network domains (edge, backbone, DC fabric, SDN/cloud), with the judgment to know when to go deep personally versus delegate to domain experts.
Strong command of SDN and cloud-native networking (SDN controllers, Kubernetes CNIs, network virtualization/overlays).
Demonstrated experience setting multi-year technical strategy and influencing VP/C-level stakeholders through design documents and roadmap reviews.
Track record building and scaling technical organizations, including hiring and developing senior & staff+ engineers.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Bonus Points:
Prior senior leadership experience at a hyperscaler, AI cloud provider, HPC center, or large-scale colocation operator.
Experience leading network organizations supporting multi-node GPU training infrastructure at scale.
Familiarity with SONiC OS, P4 programmable data planes, or formal network verification tools (Batfish, Minesweeper).
Track record of open-source leadership or contribution in networking projects (SONiC, FRR, OVS/OVN, Cilium, NetBox).
Relevant certifications (CCIE DC/SP, JNCIE), not required, but a plus.
Benefits:
Competitive compensation and equity packages
Restricted Stock Units
Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
Employer contributions to HSA account
Paid parental leave
Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
