As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through functional and automated testing practices.
You will work closely with the QA Manager, Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while driving automation, continuous testing, and quality improvements throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and potentially (ADLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage and execute end-to-end testing activities with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate closely with the QA Manager and cross-functional teams to define testing strategies, quality objectives, and release readiness.
- Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities to meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to design comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.
- Develop automated scripts for functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable automation frameworks and test scripts.
- Develop automation solutions using tools like any of these: Selenium, Playwright, Katalon Studio, Tricentis Tosca, and UFT (Unified Functional Testing).
- Implement and maintain automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) with Cucumber/Gherkin.
- Leverage AI-powered testing and self-healing automation capabilities to improve automation stability, reduce maintenance, and increase test efficiency.
- Identify suitable test cases for automation and contribute to the organization's automation strategy and best practices.
- Perform API, web services, desktop, and web application testing.
- Review test cases, automation scripts, test plans, and reports to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects while performing root cause analysis and supporting defect resolution.
- Contribute to project risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and quality planning.
- Support CI/CD pipeline integration and continuous testing initiatives.
- Track and report QA metrics, including test execution progress, automation coverage, defect density, and release readiness.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and QA demonstrations.
- Mentor junior QA team members and promote automation and quality best practices.
- Stay current with emerging testing technologies, AI-driven automation, and industry trends, recommending continuous improvements where appropriate.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Agile, and Scrum methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Katalon Studio, Tricentis Tosca, and/or UFT (Unified Functional Testing).
- Experience implementing automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM) and BDD frameworks with Cucumber/Gherkin.
- Knowledge of AI-powered testing and self-healing automation concepts.
- Experience with API and web service testing.
- Experience testing web and desktop applications.
- Familiarity with cross-browser testing platforms.
- Knowledge of SQL and database validation.
- Experience using source control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation integration.
- Experience with test and project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, XRAY, Confluence, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and adapt in fast-paced Agile environments.
- Experience in performance testing tools will be a plus
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Applied Computing, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Any other certifications will be a plus
