Department: Medical Surgical Acute 7TShift’s Available: DaysEmployment Type: Full Time Hours: 7:00AM - 7:00PM $4 - $8 shift differential)Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL We are seeking an Orthopedic Registered Nurse, internally referred to as our Medical Surgical RN, on the 7th floor Tower at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden, AL), a member of Prime Healthcare. An orthopedic registered nurse (RN) is a registered nurse who specializes in the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. They work with patients who have experienced injuries, undergone orthopedic surgery, or have long-term musculoskeletal conditions. Their duties include patient assessment, pain management, wound care, and education about the recovery process.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental healthmonitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditionsrecognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental statussafely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactionsact as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are metprovide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: Current and valid state RN License.Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.Ventilator Management experience preferred.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
