Environmental Field Technician (Remote, Travel Required)

We are currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our team in supporting water infrastructure and water quality investigations across the U.S.
We are seeking an individual who is able and excited to travel a minimum of 75% of working hours and engage with community stakeholders while gathering environmental data, monitoring equipment vendors, conducting sampling, and performing site inspections. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in various field conditions, a collaborative worker, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and prepared to address challenges and make good decisions in real-time. A college degree is required. This position is remote with frequent travel to project sites for multiple weeks at a time.
Responsibilities:
Review technical/program documents and applications
Perform environmental calculations based on provided methodologies
Properly collect, label, and ship samples from job sites to laboratories for further testing and analysis
Maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
Document field observations and submit timely reports on field status
Effectively communicate with field supervisors, project managers, and community stakeholders to provide regular status updates on field conditions, job status, and any operational challenges
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and those around them
Exhibit flexibility in project timelines, schedules, and field conditions
Operate motor non-CDL vehicles for the transport of field personnel and equipment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
2-5 years environmental or similar field experience
Experience with environmental sampling techniques
Understanding and familiarity with Microsoft products. (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Active OSHA 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Previous GIS platform experience is preferred
Ability and willingness to travel at least 75% of hours worked, including weekend mobilization and demobilization to and from work sites and over-the-weekend stays
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
All travel expenses are compensated when conducted according to company policy. SC&A benefits include medical, dental, short and long-term disability, basic personal accident insurance, access to a 529 saving plan, and basic life insurance. New full-time employees accrue a minimum of 15 days of paid time off (PTO) per year (number of days will be dependent on years of experience) and the company recognizes 11 holidays. Employees are eligible for a 401K and a profit-sharing plan that typically provides an amount equal to 5% of your salary directly into your 401K account. The company benefits are effective on your first day of employment.
The salary range for this position is $61,000-74,000 DOE/DOQ.
