The Buyer I is responsible for purchased commodities and outsourcing programs to support business and supply chain objectives that are identified both locally and at a corporate level.  The Buyer I is the in-line resource for escalating purchasing matters related to the Supply Chain Management and Purchasing functions for Aftermarket.  They support these areas through their technical capabilities, quality awareness, and total cost management


What you’ll do

  • Develop Sourcing Recommendations with supporting rationale and documentation.
  • Identify and implement cost savings through spend analysis, supplier negotiations, business resourcing, and other purchasing methods.
  • Participate as an extended member of the Purchasing Commodity Team in regards to commodity strategy, minority business strategy, supplier consolidation, and cost savings.
  • Support manufacturing operations and quality department with supplier issue resolution.
  • Administrate Purchase Orders and Vendor Master information in the ERP system.
  • Comply with purchasing policies/procedures, as well as legal/ethical obligations.
  • Navigate legal issues involving Terms and Conditions, and identify issues that require professional legal assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • First point of escalation with CSR, Sales, and Global Distribution sites for part shortages.

  • Manage Fill Rate associated with their desks. 

  • Backorder management and backorder reduction.

  • Salesforce case management and follow up

  • Inventory turn directly tied to planned parts.

  • Proactively communicate service risks and recovery timing to the organization and develop and execute plans to mitigate risk.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation.

  • Highly capable in problem solving, prioritizing and multi-tasking techniques.

  • Extensive MS Office skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a high performing Purchasing, Materials or Supply Chain Professional.

  • Supplier management background.

  • Ability to operate well in a fast-paced environment with priorities that change daily.

Abilities:

  • Advanced English skills

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Problem solving mindset.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Supply Chain Management, Business Management 

  • 2 - 3 years of Supply Chain Planning Experience preferred.

  • Background is supplier or account management.
