This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Program.The primary objective of this role is to collaborate across Systems Engineering, System Test, Global Supply Chain, suppliers, and other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to develop and review Environmental Control System hardware requirements, specifications, designs, trade studies, and analyses for the purpose of supporting incremental system maturity milestones and hardware deliveries. The successful candidate will be comfortable with working in a dynamic people-focused environment and collaborating across multiple internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve organizational goals.What You’ll Get to Do:Collaborate with stakeholders to decompose technical requirements, develop complete and verifiable requirements, and conduct trade studiesGenerate and update specifications as part of a Systems Engineering framework for the purpose of releasing to suppliers and supporting the procurement processDevelop design and analysis artifacts to support design reviews, customer deliverables, and hardware procurement workflowsPerform heating and cooling calculations to size HVAC equipmentSelect appropriate HVAC equipment to meet size and system requirementsReview and provide comments to supplier-submitted drawings and contractual deliveriesThis position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.​This requisition may be filled as a Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 3) or Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 4) depending on experience and qualificationsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM fieldMinimum of 5 years (level 3) or 8 years (level 4) of relevant experienceMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearanceMust be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearanceMust be proficient with Microsoft Office tools - PowerPoint, Excel, WordAbility to understand and interpret requirementsMust be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing directionBasic Qualifications: Experience with Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) system design and verificationExperience with Carrier HAP, NX, Autodesk Revit, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) softwareFamiliarity with Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processesProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience with estimation, bidding, proposals, or RFPsExperience with PDP (Product Definition Packages) creationWorking knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and plant controls
