This newly created role will report to the Senior Director of Newsgathering, supporting key newsroom functions in a fast-moving multiplatform environment while assisting the development of our desk assistants.Duties:Partner with the DC bureau leadership team to provide administrative support for the DC desk assistant program, including schedulingSupport the newsroom staff in their daily newsgathering activities, maintain supplies and serve as a liaison to the facilities manager and IT staffSupport beat teams on all credentialing needs, including passports, visas and beat passesOrganize and coordinate employee engagement events in partnership with the HR team, including town halls, holiday and cultural celebrations, as well as well-being initiativesOversee office and desk space for bureau staff and visitors and serve as point of contact for bureau toursQualificationsBasic Requirements:Bachelor’s DegreeMinimum 5 years of newsroom experienceExperience with Washington newsgathering and / or news production managementExperience managing and developing early-career journalistsAbility to work nights and weekends, in the event of breaking newsDesired Characteristics:Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbalExceptional administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAdditional Requirements:Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
