Position Description: This is a pivotal role in developing a centralized framework and tools to enable Elanco’s clinical trial oversight.  The incumbent will be responsible for partnering with clinical development and operations teams to define key metrics, develop response protocols, and implement standardized processes that ensure data integrity and trial safety. The role is further responsible for strategically driving the implementation and execution of global clinical data management objectives through systems and processes used during data capture, management, reporting, storage and archival. This leadership position is expected to be highly influential in partnering with product development teams, Site monitoring groups, field trial managers (FTMs), internal sites, and third parties to develop tools that result in on-target delivery of final databases and Final Study Reports (FSRs)  This position will closely collaborate with global R&D functions including clinical development, clinical operations, internal study sites, biostatistics, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance to ensure data integrity, data quality, validation, and compliance. This position will also provide leadership and management of DM activities for clinical projects and internal and external sites.

Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely delivery and quality for all deliverables supporting internal and external FTM and monitoring team activities, including FLAT (field level audit trail) logs, data cleaning logs, dashboards, visualization, monitoring reports, site invoicing reports, vendor reconciliation, AE/Conmed coding, and additional deliveries as defined.
  • Lead and drive process improvements for related internal processes to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Translate metric outcomes into actionable response plans to mitigate risks before they impact trial timelines or quality.
  • Collaborate with the Data Governance team to create and maintain standard forms and templates for all upcoming field study builds.
  • Ensure all centralized monitoring activities comply with global regulatory standards and internal QC/Testing protocols.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with Clinical Operations, Quality, and IT teams to align monitoring strategies with broader business goals.
  • Drive the adoption of automated data entry and quality control tools (including ElancoGPT personas) to eliminate manual errors and generate significant cost savings.
  • Align team outputs with the Elanco 2030 DM Vision, proactively identifying opportunities for process modernization and team readiness.

Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications):

  • BS or equivalent in IT, statistics or scientific field related to animal health, or relevant work experience in the animal drug development industry
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in a global network or supporting a global network, ideally in animal health R&D
  • Thorough knowledge of electronic systems and capabilities and their application in animal/ health R&D, maintenance validation and data pulls are a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work within and across interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues, especially as it relates to living the Elanco behaviors.

Additional Preferences:

  • Clinical trial experience and/or clinical trial data experience
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic data capture systems
  • Experience interacting with regulatory authorities and regulatory submissions.
  • Project Management and/or development of QMS experience
