Sr Attorney

Job Summary: This position will be based in Bangalore and report to General Counsel (HTCS India)and will be a member of HTS India Leadership team. Lead Attorney (HTS India) will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters within HTS India. This role involves providing strategic legal advice to senior management, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and leading the HTS India legal department. Lead Attorney will work closely with SBGs and Functions to support business objectives and protect Honeywell's interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted advisor and lead HTS India’s legal function to provide legal and strategic support to the business and other HTS India senior management on a wide range of legal issues, Operate as a true business partner, providing commercial and pragmatic solutions. 
  • Work closely with General Counsel to drive processes for building awareness of legal risk exposures / prepare and disseminate legal risk exposure mitigation policies and procedures, including participation in any form of legal risk assessments
  • Oversee HTS contract review and management function. Manage legal aspects for broad range of commercial transactions including university collaboration, technical collaborations, licensing agreements, supply agreements - out-sourcing of services and works, non-disclosure agreements, consultancy agreements, etc. 
  • Enable right and fast legal counsel on full range of legal and regulatory issues for SBG’s and Functions of HTS in the region , including those relating to corporate, commercial and contract law, environmental, health and safety, intellectual property, leasing licensing, compliance, foreign transactions, labour and employment, liability, anti-trust, etc. 
  • Closely work with business and functions to resolve procurement related processes and compliance, HR and Labor laws including POSH, Labor Code, capable to advise on diverse queries and also support internal investigations, PIPs etc. , SEZ / EOUs related complexities and capable to suggest on various modelling to suit HON requirement from time to time, basic knowledge on export import process, capable to handle Police and investigation by various agencies and ability to handle on-ground matters, fair understanding of financial and tax laws including FDI, Transfer Pricing, FX matters, environmental, real estate, operations /facilities, CSR matters
  • Manage litigation and direct dispute resolution efforts, including the management of external counsels for referred matters in the region. 
  • Enable engagement with third parties and drive intelligent risk taking within HTS. Enable the region’s engineers to develop business acumen and appropriately interacting with third parties in commercial discussions, participating in bids and negotiations. 
  • Champion the integrity and compliance program for the region, including participating in internal investigations in coordination with the Honeywell Integrity & Compliance team 
  • Conduct preventive law training and guide employees on a wide variety of topics including competition law, data privacy, contracting excellence, protection of intellectual property, anti-corruption and workplace issues.
  • Develop standardized processes and templates to efficiently deliver legal services in the region and in support of Honeywell Law Department initiatives

Qualifications:

  • LL.B degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with significant experience either in a corporate legal department or a major law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, technology law, intellectual property, employment law, and data privacy.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a legal team.
  • Demonstrated intellectual capacity and high personal standards of excellence, including integrity and good judgement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and motivate business teams on legal issues affecting business transactions and providing advise that blends legal experience with an understanding and appreciation of business objectives and needs of a global technology organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the technology or manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with international legal issues and regulations.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of business operations.
