Member of Technical Staff - Data Collection & Research

San FranciscoFullTimePosted Jul 29, 2026

We're seeking a Member of Technical Staff for Data Collection & Research to own how Latch sources and curates the data behind our evals.

About the Role

As models improve, building difficult and realistic evals depends increasingly on creative, high-quality data curation. You will own that work end to end: identifying valuable data sources, building partnerships and securing access to proprietary datasets, and preparing raw data for eval production.

This work is already happening across our benches: chaining dozens of papers around a single drug to build evals across teams, combining patent filings with publications for therapeutics evals, assembling multimodal datasets (spatial, single-cell), preprocessing raw data for epigenetics ahead of need, and sourcing clinical genomics data from institutions for the Variant pod. Today it is diffused across MOTS and engineers who are already stretched thin. Data sourcing and curation is becoming a meaningful company moat, and this role makes it a full-time discipline.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and evaluate high-value data sources across biology — literature, patents, public repositories, and proprietary datasets

  • Build partnerships with data vendors, institutions, and labs, and secure access to proprietary data

  • Source clinical and molecular datasets directly from institutions and research groups

  • Assemble and preprocess raw multimodal data (spatial, single-cell, epigenomic, proteomic) into eval-ready form

  • Work ahead of the benches, staging data before it is needed rather than after

Requirements

  • 5+ years working hands-on with biological or biomedical data

  • A track record of finding non-obvious data sources and getting access to them

  • Fluency with primary literature and patent search, and the judgment to assess data quality

  • Proficiency in Python and/or R

  • Strong written communication; this role is externally facing

Nice to Have

  • Experience negotiating data partnerships or licensing agreements

  • Experience building datasets for model training or evaluation

Compensation & Logistics

  • $180k+ base, increasing with technical depth and experience

  • Variable compensation + equity + stock options

  • 100% premium covered Blue Shield platinum health plan ($0 deductible / $0 out-of-pocket)

  • Free meals (lunch and dinner)

  • Waterfront office in China Basin, San Francisco

  • Full-time, in-person

Location: San Francisco, CA. In-person.
