Role Definition
The Modelling & Detailing Lead Engineer provides technical leadership for engineering modelling, detailing, and product definition activities supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), Current Product Improvement (CPI), and Product Lifecycle Management initiatives. This is a lead role - responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOM structures, and product data while ensuring compliance with Caterpillar engineering standards, quality requirements, and release processes
Responsibilities of a Modelling & Detailing Lead Engineer
- Create and review 3D CAD models (Creo)
- Ensure high-quality 2D engineering drawings and GD&T compliance.
- Support product development, NPI, CPI, and engineering change activities.
- Drive drawing quality, release quality, and standards compliance.
- Mentor engineers on modelling best practices and detailing methodologies.
- Coordinate with Design Control Engineers, Offshore & Quality teams.
- Support BOM creation, Teamcenter data management, and release processes.
- Drive productivity improvements, automation, and standardization of modelling/detailing processes.
Skills Expected
- Expert proficiency in Creo Modelling & Detailing.
- GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
- Ability to validate drawings
- Teamcenter product data management (BNU, JT Creation, & TCE debug fix)
