Job Summary
The Laboratory Information Specialist (LIS) Support Specialist manages and supports the Laboratory Information System, ensuring its efficient operation, customization, and optimization to streamline laboratory workflows, facilitate clinical decision-making, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards, while also playing a crucial role in preserving data integrity and enhancing laboratory operational efficiency.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
- Certifications from ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology), or certificate in LIS systems preferred
- 1-2 years in an acute care or lab setting with operational experience preferred
- 0-1 years of experience with instruments and information technology interactions, such as, integration and interfacing preferred
Essential Functions
- Implements, configures, and maintains the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Customizes the LIS according to laboratory workflows, including setting up test orders, results reporting, and interfaces with other systems.
- Updates and patches the LIS to ensure security, compliance, and optimal performance. Managing upgrades and testing before deployment.
- Provides technical support to laboratory staff and collaborates with IT and other departments to address network or hardware issues.
- Ensures integration of the LIS with other healthcare systems, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), billing systems, and other laboratory instruments. Developing and maintaining interfaces with third-party applications and devices.
- Responsible for LIS data management and reporting.
- Provides ongoing training and creating resources and user guides.
- Analyzes laboratory processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implements data security and confidentiality of systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
