Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Collaborate closely with Managing Directors and Directors to deliver exceptional client service to a portfolio of real estate clients, including real estate funds, developers, REITs, family offices, private equity investors, and operating companies.
  • Lead and review complex tax compliance engagements (e.g., partnerships, multi-tier structures, consolidated groups, REIT returns, 1031 exchanges, cost segregation studies, state & local filings).
  • Provide proactive tax planning, structuring, and advisory services specific to real estate transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, debt restructuring, and waterfall allocations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services, improve tax strategies, and drive additional value for clients.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of real estate taxation, including:
    • Partnership tax (Subchapter K)
    • Capital account maintenance & tax basis analysis
    • 704(b) and 704(c) allocations
  • Oversee engagement planning, budgeting, and billing 
  • Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively
  • Provide real-time coaching, formal performance feedback, and support career development pathways.
  • Drive a team environment; demonstrate support of management decisions and build a positive culture
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 years experience in public accounting or related field
  • 5 years supervisory
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs
