Material Handler

Irvine, CA (Onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Material Handler to perform physical and administrative tasks related to the shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. In this role, you will inspect inventory, distribute materials to stock locations and manufacturing lines, and support the timely fulfillment of customer demand. You will receive, unpack, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and other documentation while safely handling light, moderate, and occasionally heavy materials. This position requires the operation of material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, as well as the preparation and maintenance of shipping, receiving, inventory, and other transactional records as needed. In this position, you will also work with logistics carriers and suppliers, record shipment weights and shipping charges, and prepare goods for final shipment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Analyze SAP data in support of Distribution Operations; process shipments, validate inventory movements, and make recommendations to management on optimal processing methods and solutions; understand SAP functions to perform shipping duties as needed; perform cycle count duties using SAP functions; reconcile Material Handling transactions; and ensure inventory accuracy and integrity are upheld.
  • Coordinate distribution and shipping operations by working with Material Handling, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to develop daily delivery schedules; assist in fulfilling material requirements for Distribution Center activities; maintain operational plans to support customer shipments and production needs (including Saturdays and Sundays); maintain on-time delivery to OEMs and airlines; maintain historical shipment data and trafficking of freight movements, ensuring adherence with transit time commitments and proof of delivery (POD); create export documentation in accordance with and in compliance with U.S. regulations; and support the shipping department in shipping material with UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other couriers.
  • Inspect, verify, and handle materials by checking material against documentation for proper nomenclature, identification, and quantity; utilizing small hand tools, scales, and material handling equipment such as forklifts, skids, and hand trucks; and interfacing with Receiving Inspection, Production Control, and Assembly departments to coordinate shortages or expedite stock issues.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal customers and collaborate across functional teams to support operational and customer requirements.
  • Drive operational excellence through the development of continuous process improvement plans and initiatives, while creating and sustaining a culture that supports lean initiatives and promotes lean values.
  • Promote a safe work environment for all employees and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 0–2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience using SAP or another ERP system; and knowledge of cycle count functions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business workflows related to a warehouse distribution center; write reports, business correspondence, and other communications; and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work independently and complete routine assignments with general instruction.

Total Target Cash (TTC) 40,194.75 - 66,991.25 USD Annual

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity.
