Sompo has a unique opportunity for a VP Property Facultative Underwriter in our SompoRe North America Property Facultative team.

What you’ll be doing:
- Develop relationships, organic premium growth, and underwrite complex accounts to drive profitable premium.
- Meet stated financial objectives for growth and profitability for the elements of the portfolio.
- Ensure proficiency in truncated tenure filing and retrocessional planning.
- Create and maintain relationships to showcase SompoRe’s capabilities beyond underwriting, including market trends, audits, and claims; represent SompoRe through on-site visits, industry conferences, and other engagements.
- Support updates to Property Facultative guidelines year on year to mirror Retrocessional renewal terms.
- Participate in special projects and provide guidance and coaching to others (directly and/or through matrix leadership).
- Perform and/or oversee risk analysis (exposure, aggregation, scenario testing, and profitability) using internal models and market data.
- Support internal and external audits; identify control gaps and drive remediation actions where needed.
- Partner with Claims, Actuarial, Cat/Exposure Management, Finance, and Operations to support underwriting outcomes and portfolio health.
What you’ll bring:
- At least 10 years, preferably 12 years of industry experience with Property Facultative experience Broker Market and Direct
- Demonstrated proficiency in individual risk and automatic underwriting. Industry designations such as ARe and/or CPCU are preferred.
- Proven ability to perform detailed risk analysis and effectively engage in complex negotiations.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, coupled with strong organizational skills and the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
- Professional demeanor with a commitment to delivering outstanding client service and building long-term partnerships.
- Ability to interact and collaborate with stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant software tools, including AI, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications.
- Willingness to travel as required to support client relationships and business objectives.
Salary Range: $200,000 – $270,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
