Corporate Banking Relationship Associate (Assistant Vice President)
Position Overview
The Relationship Associate (AVP) provides dedicated relationship and client service support to Corporate Banking Relationship Managers covering Top Tier Local Corporates and Public Sector clients.
Working within a fast-paced front-office environment, the role is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of client onboarding, account maintenance, KYC reviews, credit administration support, facility availments, and day-to-day servicing requirements across the bank's corporate banking, transaction banking, and markets solutions. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between clients, Relationship Managers, Product Partners, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and other internal stakeholders to deliver a seamless and high-quality client experience.
This role is well suited for an experienced banking professional who enjoys client servicing, relationship support, problem solving, and operational excellence within a corporate banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
i) Client Service & Relationship Support
- Partner closely with Relationship Managers to provide day-to-day support for a portfolio of Top Tier Local Corporate and Public Sector clients.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, delivering a consistently high standard of service and responsiveness.
- Coordinate across Product, Operations, Compliance, Implementation, and Service teams to facilitate the seamless delivery of banking solutions and client requirements.
- Support Relationship Managers in maintaining strong client relationships through proactive management of servicing matters and follow-through on client commitments.
- Monitor and manage client requests, service issues, and escalations to ensure satisfactory outcomes and an excellent client experience.
ii) Account Opening & Client Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate account opening, account maintenance, mandate changes, account closures, and related documentation requirements.
- Review client documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Track onboarding progress and proactively manage outstanding requirements with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support the end-to-end management of client lifecycle events, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
iii) KYC & Regulatory Support
- Support Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger events, and remediation activities.
- Partner with KYC Documentation Group (KDG), Compliance and Relationship Managers to ensure timely completion of regulatory and policy requirements.
- Identify and escalate issues that may present operational, compliance, regulatory, or reputational risks.
iv) Credit Administration Support
- Assist Relationship Managers in coordinating facility availments, documentation, renewals, covenant monitoring, and other credit-related administrative activities.
- Liaise with Credit Risk, Legal, Documentation, and Operations teams to facilitate timely processing and execution of credit facilities.
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and approval conditions.
v) Risk & Control
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, internal policies, procedures, and control standards.
- Remain vigilant to potential fraud, financial crime, and suspicious activities, and promptly escalate concerns in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Identify, escalate, and support resolution of operational and control issues in a timely manner.
- Contribute to initiatives that enhance client experience, operational efficiency, and process effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Client Service, Relationship Support, Account Services, Client Onboarding, Middle Office, or Operations functions within a banking environment.
- Good understanding of corporate banking products and services, including cash management, lending products, trade finance, account services, and markets products.
- Experience in account opening, account maintenance, KYC processes, client onboarding, and regulatory documentation.
- Familiarity with facility documentation, loan servicing processes, and corporate banking operational workflows.
- Strong understanding of banking controls, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting corporate, institutional, public sector, or government-linked clients is advantageous.
- Client-focused with a proactive and service-oriented mindset.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
