What You’ll Do

As a Senior Maintenance employee, you’ll be part of our Plastics Plant team located in Chesterfield, MI. You’ll get to:

  • Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles machinery and equipment utilizing manual and power tools, and general tool room equipment such as lathes, mills, grinder, etc.  In doing so climbs, kneels, stands, sits, or crouches while handling items of various sizes, shapes, and weights.
  • Operates a variety of mechanical equipment such as forklift, hydraulic lift and hand cart to move equipment to appropriate locations.
  • Maintains electrical controls, circuits, and control panels.
  • Diagnose trouble, disassemble, and determine extent of repairs necessary.  
  • Maintains departmental files of work orders, maintenance requisitions, preventative maintenance histories, and other related records, being able to retrieve same to assist in resolving maintenance related problems.
  • Performs a variety of buildings, machinery, and equipment repairs, installation, or modification requiring hydraulic, plumbing, and electrical skills.
  • Obtains material and supplies from local distributors, warehouses, or merchants.
  • Places orders for repair parts or materials utilizing telephone, computer terminal, or written correspondence.
  • Completes downtime reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Experience with plastic injection molding equipment preferred

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when diagnosing, inspecting and checking accuracy of repairs. High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Secondary or Technical degree/certification preferred.
  • Completion of the following courses or equivalent:
    • High voltage electrical course
    • Electrical troubleshooting course
    • Electrical three phase systems course
    • Pneumatics course
    • PLC course
    • Welding course
    • Robotics course
    • Hydraulic Pumps and valves course
  • Ability to read and write to follow maintenance requests; understand and follow written and verbal instructions when receiving and processing requisitions, maintain simple records of items repaired, as well as other routine equipment history.
  • Approximately five years job related experience is necessary to learn maintenance procedures and equipment operations.
  • Servo motors, encoders and frequency converter experience.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate machine/equipment functions.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when diagnosing, inspecting and checking accuracy of repairs.
  • Ability to unload, transport and place heavy materials weighing up to forty pounds in appropriate locations to repair machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical prints and drawings.
  • Ability to differentiate color when repairing electrical services with multicolored wires. Regular exposure to oil, grease, and fumes from production equipment and extreme temperatures due to areas where repairs are required.
  • Regularly exposed to hazardous conditions associated with operation and repair of mechanical equipment, but hazards are limited when established safety procedures are followed.
  • Ability to read and write to follow maintenance requests; understand and follow written and verbal instructions when receiving and processing requisitions, maintain simple records of items repaired, as well as other routine equipment history.
