Your Responsibilities
As a Factory Automation ME for John Deere Thibodaux located in Thibodaux, LA, you will:
- Plan, coordinate, and perform intermediate-level professional factory automation engineering assignments across industrial control systems, mechatronics, and robotics. Responsibilities include electrical machine controls design, programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, industrial robotics programming, electrical and product test system design, and PC programming.
- Operate in a team environment within a manufacturing setting. At this level, projects are moderate in scope and responsibility; work plans and decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors and/or managers. May assign, coordinate, and review portions of work assigned to technicians, support personnel, and contractors.
- This role supports a wide range of factory automation systems and requires strong technical capability in controls, robotics, or mechatronics.
Major Duties
• Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of methods, process steps, machinery, and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing and material processes to meet cost and quality targets.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of engineering solutions, including control systems, robotics, and mechatronic systems; develop feasibility testing approaches and support validation activities.
• Support the drafting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and specifications, and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Perform inspections under guidance to evaluate the quality and integrity of engineering systems, equipment, and installations; recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors, system integrators, and suppliers; serve as a primary technical point of contact within established contract management plans.
• Identify gaps or shortcomings in processes, systems, and procedures, and apply structured change management practices to implement improvements.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for factory automation systems, including troubleshooting PLCs, robotics, and integrated manufacturing equipment.
• Support product development and manufacturing process improvements by analyzing customer and production needs and contributing to engineered solutions.
• Work within established project management plans to achieve defined milestones and deliverables.
• Share knowledge and support team capability development by utilizing knowledge management systems and providing guidance to others as needed.

What Skills You Need
- Experience with engineering design, development, implementation, testing, and technical documentation
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective engineering solutions
- Experience with industrial automation, including PLC/HMI systems, robotics, and mechatronic equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies, including CAM and system integration methodologies
- Experience working with databases, engineering software environments, operating systems, and document management systems
- Proficiency using spreadsheets, reporting tools, and presentations to support decision-making
- Experience managing project schedules, analyzing business requirements, and mitigating risks
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements, regulatory standards, and stakeholder collaboration

Education
