WORK LOCATION: Huntsville, AL FLSA STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000 to $83,400 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment. SUMMARY Redwire Defense Tech is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a UAS Operator/ Instructor I. This role involves operating uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), providing technical support, and delivering training to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate should possess FAA ratings and exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to conduct demonstrations and equipment testing. RESPONSIBILITIESThe following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.Perform UAS Operations:
- Operate uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) in compliance with FAA regulations and company guidelines.
- Conduct pre-flight inspections, mission planning, and post-flight analysis.
- Ensure safe and efficient UAS operations in various operational environments.
- Travel up to 50%
- Maintain and troubleshoot UAS equipment, including performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct equipment testing and evaluation to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Stay updated with the latest UAS technology advancements and industry trends.
- Develop and deliver UAS training programs for both internal personnel and external clients.
- Instruct and guide individuals in UAS piloting techniques, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct demonstrations and simulations to enhance trainees' understanding and proficiency.
- Adhere to FAA regulations and guidelines, ensuring compliance during UAS operations and training activities.
- Promote and maintain a culture of safety, emphasizing best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
- Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned
- Minimum 2 years of directly related experience
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meticulously follow operational protocols and safety procedures
- Experience in conducting demonstrations and equipment testing
- Knowledge of UAS technology, airspace regulations, and industry best practices
- Excellent communication and instructional skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to trainees
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in UAS equipment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
- Ability to lift boxes regularly
- Military Experience
- FAA UAS pilot-rated
