Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and St Francis Hospital - Interquest. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Speech Language Pathologist-Clinical Fellow (CF), you will work under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with CCC, providing a continuum of services to patients with neurological, swallowing, speech-language, cognitive, and other related disorders. Every day you will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders through an interdisciplinary approach, utilizing the rehab process to promote and restore optimal patient health. You will actively engage in professional development to achieve your CCCs. To be successful in this role, you will possess foundational knowledge in speech-language pathology, strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team. • Evaluates patients referred to speech therapy by completing initial profile within time standards per department protocol.
• Applies appropriate diagnostic and prognostic tests including but not limited to dysphagia, memory testing, aphasia testing, and cognitive deficits.
• Establishes appropriate treatment plan with measurable and attainable goals and time frames by collaborating with patient, family, and other members of the health care team including discharge planning.
• Performs a variety of therapeutic interventions including but not limited to dysphagia, speechlanguage, and cognitive skills.
• Documents all patient care activities including evaluations, progress notes, and detailed treatment records per standards of practice and regulatory/thirdparty payer requirements.
• Consults with supervising SLP to select the most appropriate activity and/or program for individual patients, based on patient needs and capabilities.

Job Requirements

Required

• Speech Language Pathology Program Accredited MS/MA program in accordance with Medicare and Medicaid. Services 42 CFR 440.110c and ASHA CFCC. Academic program is complete. Working toward Clinical Competence Certification.
• Provisional Speech Language Pathologist license
• Certificate of Clinical Competence for SpeechLanguage Pathology Must complete CCC in one (1) year of employment and transition to an SLP CCC or terminate employment.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

Preferred

• Master Degree Speech Language Pathology
• Previous clinical/work experience providing direct patient care in an inpatient or outpatient setting
• Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR)
