The next stage of growth will fuel a network of services and products especially designed to make money more accessible to diaspora communities including local cards, and additional savings and payments features.We’re growing fast, backed by world-class investors, and scaling a product that blends real world impact with cutting edge fintech innovation.Here’s a little more:Founded by Harvard grads and 3-time founders who previously built Segovia (acquired) and GiveDirectly (>$300M revenue, fastest-growing NGO in the world)Backed by top investors including Spark Capital, Canaan, Reid Hoffman, Breyer Capital, Unbound, Wamda, and moreBuilt by global top performers from Bain, Google, McKinsey, Uber, Checkout, Bolt, and beyond - we move fast, stay humble, and care deeply about our missionTruly global team - 250+ people, 50+ nationalities, 50+ languagesGuided by our values - ownership, impact, humility, and heart - in deed, not just wordRoleAs Regulatory Counsel, you will report to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and do a broad range of work, including new product launches, expansion into new markets and ongoing regulatory compliance.You’ll work closely with all business functions to advise them in their decision making, lead and assist on projects, work on negotiating and drafting agreements and communicate about legal issues with other lawyers and non-lawyers, balancing business and legal perspectives.ResponsibilitiesLead on the legal and regulatory aspects of new product launches and existing product developmentWork cross-functionally with the product, compliance, finance and infosec teams to tackle day to day regulatory challenges and ensure ongoing regulatory complianceCollaborate with and support the rest of the legal team to identify, evaluate and discuss risks and develop creative solutions to bridge business priorities in a changing regulatory landscapeCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop actionable solutions with respect to regulatory or licensing mattersLead engagement with regulatorsSupport license applications for new market entries with legal expertise, and own ongoing regulatory matters across all live marketsRequirementsYou are a qualified lawyer with 5 to 10 years of practicing experience in payments or other regulated businessYou've worked in house, gaining relevant fintech experience, ideally in a payments or fintech environmentYou understand and can navigate the regulatory frameworks governing financial products and services. Regulator experience preferred but not requiredYou have a strong sense of initiative, independence and ability to take ownership enabling you to contribute to a fast-growing business and contribute to driving its growthExtra points if you have experience working in APAC markets, though not requiredA good fit for this role isOutgoing - you love speaking to people and enjoy building meaningful relationshipsExecution Oriented - we have an ‘impact first’ philosophy and a lot to get done.
