Medical Imaging Communications Coordinator

Be the Connection Behind Exceptional Imaging Care

Are you a calm, confident communicator who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment? Do you enjoy problem-solving, coordinating information, and helping people get connected to the right resource?

University Health is seeking a Medical Imaging Communications Coordinator to serve as the central communication hub for the Medical Imaging/Radiology department. In this highly visible role, you’ll connect patients, referring providers, physicians, technologists, and clinical teams—helping ensure important information reaches the right person at the right time.

Your ability to prioritize, communicate clearly, and remain composed under pressure will directly support efficient radiology operations and an exceptional patient experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming Medical Imaging/Radiology calls across University Health.

  • Receive, assess, and appropriately route calls from patients, referring providers, physicians, technologists, hospital staff, and external provider offices.

  • Coordinate communication between radiologists, residents, technologists, clinical teams, and other departments.

  • Relay urgent and critical imaging results notifications according to established department protocols.

  • Maintain working knowledge of radiology services, physician assignments, on-call schedules, and Medical Imaging locations throughout University Health.

  • Manage sensitive and urgent communications with professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and HIPAA compliance.

  • Document call activity and communications using Excel, databases, call-log tools, or other electronic systems.

  • Help streamline communication workflows so interpreting physicians and clinical teams can remain focused on patient care and diagnostic services.

  • Build strong working relationships with individuals across diverse clinical, professional, and cultural backgrounds.

What You Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience in healthcare, medical imaging/radiology, call center, or customer service.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly radiology and imaging terminology.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a high-volume, high-pressure environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential, urgent, and sensitive information with tact and discretion.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency with Excel, databases, or electronic call-tracking tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with multi-line phone or call center systems.

  • Experience with RIS/PACS, EMR, or scheduling software.

  • Experience managing high call volumes while effectively prioritizing competing needs.

The Impact You’ll Make

Every call represents a patient, provider, or care team member who needs timely assistance. As the Medical Imaging Communications Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in keeping communication flowing, supporting physicians and clinical teams, and helping patients and providers navigate Medical Imaging services with confidence.

If you're an exceptional communicator who can turn complex, high-pressure situations into organized and positive experiences, we want to hear from you.
