Required skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 

  • Studying towards, or interested in pursuing, a professional accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA, or CIMA. 

  • Experience supporting financial reporting processes, including month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations. 

  • Exposure to annual budgeting and weekly forecasting processes. 

  • Experience working with Finance Business Partners and/or FP&A teams would be advantageous. 

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and high-quality financial reporting. 

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. 

  • Experience using a Finance ERP system, with knowledge of IBM Cognos Controller, PeopleSoft, or Sun Systems considered an advantage.

 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Reporting Accounts Assistant to join our team in Essex. Reporting to the Senior Reporting Accountant, you will support month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting activities, while working closely with the UK Finance Team, Finance Business Partners and FP&A teams. This is a great opportunity to develop your accounting experience and gain exposure to a wide range of financial reporting and business partnering activities.

 

Reporting and Accounting:

  • Ensuring all month-end processes are completed in line with group reporting deadlines
  • Preparing and posting month end journals such as accruals and prepayments
  • Reviewing and understanding the financial results for your allocated UK operations and presenting those results to Finance Business Partners or FP&A’s.

  • Working with Finance Business Partners to understand and explain variances to forecast, budget, prior month and prior year results
  • Reviewing P&L commentaries before distribution to sites along with post month end ‘deep dive’ reviews –
  • reviewing information gathered ensuring discussion is fully documented

  • Supporting the Senior Reporting Accountants, Finance Business Partners or FP&A’s with the annual budgeting
  • and weekly forecasting processes

  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring open items are resolved
  • Supporting the control framework by ensuring documentation of monthly, quarterly and half yearly controls is completed as required

  • Reports directly to Senior Reporting Accountant

  • UK Internal & External Reporting Manager and UK Financial Controller

  • UK Finance team/UK FBPs/UK FP&A

  • Site Business Line Directors and Site Managers
