Details of Research Project:

The Palacios Laboratory is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic, collaborative research team working on identifying and characterizing critical virus-host interactions to support broad-spectrum antiviral development. This initiative focuses on mapping interactions essential for viral life cycles, aiming to understand and inhibit viral entry, replication, immune evasion, and release.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Experimental Design & Implementation
  • Conduct multi-omics analyses, including quantitative proteomics, to characterize virus-host protein interactions and study host factors involved in key viral processes.
  • Perform virological assays under BSL-2 and BSL-3 conditions, managing studies with viral species relevant to pandemic potential.

     2. Data Analysis & Integration

  • Integrate multi-omics datasets (e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics) to map essential virus-host interactions.
  • Collaborate with computational biology teams to support AI/ML-driven analyses for identifying critical viral and host targets.

      3. Project Management & Collaboration

  • Work closely with teams at ISMMS and partnering institutions, coordinating experiments, sharing data, and aligning research efforts.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to report progress, address challenges, and contribute to strategy discussions.

     4. Publication & Presentation

  • Prepare and publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals.
  • Present research at conferences and review meetings, highlighting advancements in host-pathogen interaction research and antiviral discovery.

Technical Duties:

  • Flow-cytometry
  • ELISA
  • WB
  • ELISPOT
  • qPCR
  • CyTOF data analyses
  • Mouse work

Educational and other Requirements for the position:

  • PhD in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in virology, with hands-on experience in viral culture and host-pathogen interaction studies.
  • Proficiency in multi-omics techniques, including proteomics and transcriptomics, with data analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratory practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience Required: MD or PhD
