Sr. Medical Writer, Medical Affairs

The Senior Medical Writer is responsible for the development, writing, editing, and scientific review of high-quality, rigorous Medical Affairs materials supporting YUTREPIA and Liquidia's broader PAH/PH-ILD pipeline (including L606). The role partners closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, HEOR/Market Access, and external medical experts to communicate scientific evidence in a clear, balanced, and compliant manner — with particular emphasis on publications, medical communications, external stakeholder outreach, and congress engagement.

Requirements

Required:

• Advanced scientific degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, or MS in Life Sciences); strong candidates with a BS and significant relevant writing experience will also be considered.
• Meaningful pharmaceutical medical writing experience, ideally including direct Medical Affairs experience.
• Demonstrated end-to-end publication management experience (GPP 2022/ICMJE fluency required).
• Strong track record developing congress abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations.
• Excellent scientific writing, editing, and communication skills.

Preferred:

• Pulmonary hypertension, rare disease, respiratory, or orphan drug experience.
• Familiarity with AMA style, medical review committee (MRC) processes, and publication/medical communication tools (e.g., EndNote, Veeva Vault).

• Ability to translate complex clinical/scientific data for varied audiences.
• Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple concurrent projects against tight congress/publication deadlines.
• Effective cross-functional and stakeholder management, including with external authors and vendors.
• Working understanding of evidence generation and dissemination strategy.

Responsibilities

Publications:

• Draft manuscripts, review articles, congress abstracts, posters, and oral presentations across the PAH/PH-ILD portfolio.
• Support the development of the publication plan and timeline in coordination with the publications lead, ensuring alignment with data readouts, congress calendars, and cross-functional review cycles.
• Manage publication vendors, coordinate author and steering committee reviews, and maintain the publication tracking database.
• Ensure compliance with Good Publication Practice (GPP 2022) and ICMJE authorship standards throughout.

Medical Communications:

• Support the development of the core scientific platform, disease-state education materials, clinical data decks, and product scientific narrative documents.
• Build and maintain the MSL slide library, MSL training materials, FAQs, and scientific response letters.
• Support the medical review process for promotional and non-promotional materials as needed.
• Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, scientifically balanced content for HCP, payer, and internal audiences.

Medical Information (supporting):

• Support the development and maintenance of Standard Response Letters and literature/scientific digests.
• Support responses to unsolicited scientific inquiries and keep the Medical Information reference library current.

External Outreach: 

• Support engagement with KOLs, advocacy organizations, and professional societies through scientifically accurate written content.
• Partner with Advocacy and Field Medical to ensure materials reflect current data and support relationship-building objectives.
• Develop advisory board materials, investigator meeting presentations, and post-meeting scientific summaries.

Congress Engagement:

• Support scientific content development for congress activities: abstracts, posters, symposia materials, and booth/exhibit scientific content.
• Support pre- and post-congress activity, including competitive intelligence summaries and internal debrief materials.
• Align content development with Liquidia's tiered Congress Strategy framework and KOL engagement standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Partner with Medical Directors, Field Medical, Clinical Innovation & Strategic Engagement, HEOR/Market Access, Regulatory, and Legal/Compliance to ensure scientific accuracy, balance, and regulatory compliance across all deliverables.
• Coordinate with Commercial on non-promotional review as needed.
