OfficeJob Description
The PositionThis position is part of the DAIV System Team, a centralized DevOps and software infrastructure organization based in Bangalore that supports multiple software product development teams across the EMEA region. These teams develop desktop and web applications for data management, image processing, and visualization workflows.
The DAIV System Team provides CI/CD infrastructure, software lifecycle management, developer tooling, platform engineering, AI enablement, and cybersecurity support across the software development lifecycle.
As the Senior Manager, DevOps & Platform Engineering, you will lead the people, technology strategy, and operational execution for the containerized platforms, CI/CD capabilities, and engineering practices used by our web and desktop application teams.
You will be accountable for building and developing a high-performing DevOps organization while providing strong technical leadership across cloud-native architecture, Kubernetes platforms, software delivery automation, developer productivity, reliability, and secure software supply-chain practices. You will work closely with global software engineering leaders, architects, product teams, cybersecurity specialists, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to translate product and organizational priorities into scalable platform capabilities. The successful candidate will combine deep technical credibility with strong people leadership, organizational planning, stakeholder management, and execution discipline. This role requires the ability to operate strategically while remaining sufficiently hands-on to guide architectural decisions, review critical
implementations, and support the resolution of complex technical and operational challenges.
This role expands upon the technical leadership, Kubernetes, CI/CD, containerization, security, reliability, and lifecycle-management responsibilities defined in the DevOps Lead position. In This Role You Will
• Lead, manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team of DevOps engineers, platform engineers, and technical leads supporting multiple global product teams.
• Own workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, retention, and succession planning.
• Establish clear team objectives, responsibilities, operating models, and accountability aligned with product and organizational priorities.
• Build an inclusive engineering culture focused on technical excellence, customer impact, collaboration, continuous learning, and responsible innovation.
• Develop future technical and people leaders through mentoring, regular feedback, capability assessments, and meaningful growth opportunities.
• Balance team capacity across strategic initiatives, platform operations, cybersecurity needs, product-team support, lifecycle upgrades, and technical-debt reduction.
Strategy and Technical Leadership
• Define and execute the DevOps and platform engineering strategy for commercial web and desktop applications.
• Own the technical roadmap for CI/CD, containerization, deployment automation, developer tooling, environment management, observability, and platform operations.
• Provide architectural leadership for the secure, scalable, and reliable delivery of .NET- and Python-based services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Establish architecture principles, engineering standards, reusable patterns, reference implementations, and governance mechanisms across product teams.
• Evaluate technology decisions based on business value, scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, cost, compliance, and time to market.
• Remain technically engaged in critical initiatives, architecture reviews, proofs of concept, complex technical decisions, and high-severity issue resolution.
DevOps, Platform, and Delivery Engineering•
* Lead the design and continuous improvement of reusable GitHub or GitLab CI/CD templates, shared automation, runners, artifact repositories, container registries, and developer tooling.
• Define secure and standardized Docker build and runtime patterns for .NET- and Python-based services.
• Establish and govern Kubernetes deployment models using Helm and Rancher or comparable Kubernetes management platforms.
• Drive infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, automated environment provisioning, and repeatable deployment practices.
• Establish effective build, testing, packaging, release, rollback, and deployment strategies that improve delivery quality and speed.
• Improve developer experience by reducing pipeline complexity, deployment friction, environment inconsistencies, and repetitive manual effort.
Reliability and Operational Excellence
• Define observability, reliability, availability, supportability, and troubleshooting standards for platforms, pipelines, deployment environments, and web services.
• Establish service-level indicators, operational metrics, dashboards, alerts, and reporting mechanisms to monitor platform health and performance.
• Implement effective incident-management, escalation, communication, recovery, and post-incident review practices.
• Lead or oversee root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions for complex pipeline, container, deployment, and platform incidents.
• Identify systemic operational risks and drive automation, resilience improvements, capacity planning, and disaster-recovery readiness.
• Define service ownership and support models and use operational data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Lifecycle and Technology Management
• Own lifecycle strategies for Kubernetes, Rancher, operating-system components, base images, build agents, CI/CD platforms, artifact repositories, and other shared technologies.
• Develop and execute upgrade, migration, deprecation, and end-of-support plans that minimize product disruption and technical risk.
• Ensure foundational technologies remain secure, supportable, current, and aligned with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.• Prioritize and manage platform technical debt, obsolescence risks, and long- term maintainability needs.
• Coordinate lifecycle changes and technology-governance decisions with product teams, architects, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and other stakeholders.
Portfolio, Delivery, and Stakeholder Management
• Establish annual and quarterly objectives, prioritized roadmaps, milestones, resource plans, and success measures for the DevOps and platform engineering organization.
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and ensure predictable delivery against agreed scope, quality, schedule, and business priorities.
• Partner with product, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, and infrastructure leaders to translate business and product needs into platform investments.
• Resolve priority and capacity conflicts through transparent decisions based on customer impact, business value, technical risk, dependencies, and available resources.
• Define and track performance indicators for delivery speed, deployment quality, platform reliability, security, adoption, developer productivity, and team effectiveness.
• Communicate strategy, progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and outcomes clearly to engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
Besides That, You Have
• Bachelors / master’s degree in engineering with at least 15 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing DevOps or platform engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, coaching, career development, workforce planning, and succession planning.
• A proven track record of defining and executing technical strategies, platform roadmaps, engineering standards, and organizational improvements across multiple product teams.
• Strong technical expertise in CI/CD, GitHub or GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Linux, Rancher or comparable platforms, artifact management, and container registries.• Experience supporting secure build, test, packaging, and deployment workflows
for .NET- and Python-based commercial web applications, preferably on Azure or AWS.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture, infrastructure as code, observability, reliability engineering, release management, incident response, and secure software supply-chain practices.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead complex initiatives and influence distributed, multicultural teams.
