Quality Engineering Manager

Senior Quality Engineering Manager in the aerospace industry typically needs a combination of technical quality expertise, regulatory knowledge, operational leadership, and people management skills. Internal aerospace quality documents also emphasize compliance with AS9100, supplier quality management, corrective actions, risk management, and continuous improvement.

You will report directly to our Sr Director ISC Operations and you’ll work out of our Boyne City, MI location on an On-site work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Aerospace Quality Systems Knowledge

Strong working knowledge of:

  • AS9100/AS9100D
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • ISO 9001
  • FAA regulatory requirements
  • Configuration Management
  • Nonconformance Management
  • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
  • Risk Management
  • Audit Management

Internal aerospace quality guidance specifically highlights AS9100 compliance and supplier quality management as core requirements.

Quality Engineering Tools

Expected expertise includes:

  • APQP
  • PPAP
  • FMEA / PFMEA / DFMEA
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • 8D Problem Solving
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma
  • Quality KPI management

 

Supplier Quality & Manufacturing Experience

A strong candidate typically has experience with:

  • Supplier audits
  • Quality Management System (QMS) implementation
  • Supplier qualification
  • Supplier development
  • Escapes reduction
  • Corrective action management
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Production readiness reviews

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 5+ years in aerospace manufacturing, quality engineering, supplier quality, or operations.
  • 3-5+ years leading quality teams, engineers, or quality managers.
  • Experience supporting: 
    • OEMs (Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, etc.)
    • FAA-regulated products
    • Aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

 

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
