No longer listedPicks up messages, records, interoffice memoranda, laboratory specimens, and other items as assigned and delivers them to various designated areas and maintains related records. Operates elevators and transports patients, as assigned by a supervisor.
1. Picks up messages, records, laboratory specimens, and other items assigned by a dispatcher and delivers them to various offices, laboratories, other designated areas of the hospital.
2. Obtains messenger assignments form the dispatcher, telephone dispatcher to report arrival at assigned area, and to report on completed assignments.
3. Immediately reports any delays or unusual circumstances to the dispatcher.
4. Maintains records of messenger activity, including simple description of items delivered, time of pick-up, and time delivery.
5. May be required to move light wheeled carts or hospital equipment on wheels.
6. Operates elevators as assigned by a supervisor.
7. Operates pneumatic tube stations when assigned to that area.
8. Transports patients when requested.
9. Wears proper uniform attire, as specified in the Procedure Manual
